I've had to pick a country to study for International Marketing class. I was graced with Zimbabwe, which is in the middle of South Africa and very, very poor. The government there keeps food at minimal in stores and money sparse. It used to be a thriving country until the government ran out all of the white farmers. I have ran across a blogspot from John and Rochelle. They are working with the Salvation Army youth groups in Zim trying to educate about HIV/Aids because this is a huge issue there. This couple signed on for 3 years of service there, they have been in Harara, Zimbabwe 1 year and half now. They struggle with having food and basic items just as the Zimbabweans do. They sometimes are graced with electricity on weekends. Money doesn't go far, her $350,000 a month is only worth two tomatoes, dinners cost in the millions. The site is filled with very interesting things about the country, so if you feel that things are tough and that you are lacking something take a look at this blogspot, there is a lot of reading. Maybe it will change your mind about all the things you are thankful for. http://johnandrochelle.blogspot.com/2008_02_01_archive.html
Happy reading..
